The Close the Gap (2020) report issued in favour of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people by the Lowitja Institute and the Steering Committee focuses on the cultural aspect of the indigenous people. I am amazed to go through the report as it strives to uphold the cultural specifications of the indigenous community in Australia. I am thrilled with the honesty of the report as in the introductory part, it admits the failure of the successive governments to address the health issues of those people properly. In such a grim scenario as identified on this Social Justice Assignment, the report tries to raise a ray of hope among the community members by focusingon various cultural determinants of the community.

The Close the Gap (2020) report gives due stress on self-determination and leadership aspects(Humanrights.gov.au, 2020). I believe such elements provide a sense of empowerment among the community members to contemplate effective health decisions and wellbeing. Indeed, the community can develop if they make their own decisions based on active guidance provided by autonomous bodies working with them. In this aspect, it is essential to develop a sense of cultural pride and the aforesaid report strives to inculcate indigenous beliefs and knowledge well. The propagators have done a good job by aligning the health and wellbeing trends with their cultural specifications to benefit the aborigines. The phenomenon identified on this Social Justice Assignmentenabled them to connect with the matter easily and extend co-operation with the facilitators towards a stepin the positive direction.

The report has steadily made strides for positive cultural expressions that form the strength and resilience of the indigenous community. It is our responsibility to provide them a platform where they will be comfortable to discuss their issues and someone is there to empathise with them(Humanrights.gov.au, 2020). So I think thisSocial Justice Assignmentis quite effective in promoting cultural expressionowing to health-protective factors to have a culturally conducive health environment.This will be plausible owing to a strong connection to the Country so that they do not feel alienated.

I believe that the health issues faced by the indigenous community need to be discussed widely to create awareness in mainstream society. The phenomenon will help the community to have a better understanding of the grave conditions that the aborigines are subjected to. I think it will be a positive step to generate coherence with the aborigines keeping aside the sorts of misdoings like discrimination. It may be effective in curbing racial discrimination to an extent as we can highlight their rich cultural aspects(Humanrights.gov.au, 2020). On this Social Justice Assignment it is identified that this will create a pride moment among the indigenous community to uphold their cultural beliefs and prosper in the right direction to have a healthy body with a sound mind.
