Report on Important Characteristics of Operating Systems and Their Functions
Question
Task:
Concepts of OS
1. Research the Internet or current literature to find the need, benefits and applications of the following OS:
- AI Operating System o Real time Embedded Operating System
- Cloud Operating System
Pl Note: Whenever you research computer technology, make sure your resources are timely. Notice the date when the research was published. Also be sure to validate the authenticity of your sources. Avoid any that might be questionable, such as blogs and publicly edited online (wiki) sources.
2. How is mobile OS different from Desktop OS? Explain in detail.3. What are the hardware resources in a computer and how operating system mange these resources.
Answer
Answer 1
AI operating System (AIOS)
Needs
As opined by [1], AI OS helps in revolutionizing the ways in which distinguished companies around the world implement natural coding language that provides an educable effective cognitive agent for understanding instruction that represents contemporary production factors and drives business profitability.
Benefits
It helps the user perform the expert task, mundane tasks and the formal tasks with a lot of ease [2]. Thus, program modification is easy in AI which helps in modifying the OS and hover, it helps in reducing the operation time, process management, improvised memory management and provision of better security for the users.
- Application
- Security and surveillance
- Social media platforms
Out of these, there are many AI powered Robots, AI powered marketing tools which helps to gain further benefits in the future [3].
Real time embedded Operating system (RTEOS)
Needs
The RTEOS helps in separating the functions of programs into the tasks that are self contained and are implemented on the demand scheduling for their executions.
Benefits
There are several advantages of RTEOS as it is intended for serving within application of real time that helps in processing the data as it comes without any kind of buffer delays.
- Task shifting within little amount of time
- Usage of embedded system
- Error free usage
Application
The RTEOS is the multitasking system of operations which is designed for the application required for real time and thus, such application includes the embedded systems, equipment for scientific research. Other applications of the RATIOS that include the systems of Air Traffic Control, systems of Multimedia Networks and the systems of Command Control. PSOS, VRTX, RT Linux and Lynx are the four popular RTeOS used worldwide [3].
Cloud operating system (Cloud OS)
Needs
The Cloud OS operates, executes and manages the processes of the virtual infrastructure such as the virtual servers, virtual machines along with software and hardware resources in the cloud environment.
Benefits
The main advantage of Cloud OS is that it supports the powering of virtual services along with environmental proactivity rather than just using the physical hardware or products.
- Easy upgrading methods by effectively taking the hassle out of the software updates.
- Reduction in the risk of viruses
- Cost effectiveness
Application
As stated by [4], there are several Cloud Operating systems such as the Glide, eyeOS, Amoeba OS, Lucid desktop and Ghost. Hence, it helps in instant sharing of documents and files with other individuals through just sending them the link of the document or file with provision of editing the same.
Answer 2
The difference between the ComputerOS and the MobileOS can be determined by the ways in which the various tech savvy companies have rolled out their various versions of the OS which serves the fundamental environment for the traditional application of software as well as rge mobile application such as,
Computer operating system |
Mobile operating system |
? Apple’s MAC OS and Microsoft Windows are two of the dominant OS designs. However, there are other OS for traditional computers such as Linus, OpenBSD, GNU and FreeBSD. |
? This mainly focuses upon access to consistent networks, responsive designs, and the other elements that provide software functioning within the diverse wireless networks. |

Answer 3
As evidenced by [5], the Hardware resources of the computer are the addressable, assignable bus paths, which permit the peripheral systems and the devices for communication with each other. The Hardware resources typically involve the I/O port addresses, blocks regarding the bus related addresses of the memory and the interrupt vendors.
As stated by [6], the operating system is the most significant software system of the computer without which the computer system could not operate its hardware application, game application or any other. The operating system of the computer helps in managing the resources and application of the computers such as memory, disk drives and the core processors.
