Business Research Assignment: Investigating Funding Issues in Education Sector in Myanmar
Question
Task:
Introduction
This is the Case that students are required to address to prepare this business research assignment. This will require writing a research proposal for AND writing a research report based on the case information below.
This case does not require an ethics application because all research should be secondary. Students will not undertake primary research because this is a fictitious case (not real). The education company in this case – Avista Education – does not exist in Myanmar.
The Case
(NOTE: This is a fictitious case set in a real context.)
January 2018. It was 1:00am in the morning. Dr Win Thein pushed back the papers on his desk, shut down his computer and sighed. This was all looking too difficult. He had just attended a Board meeting of his company Avisto Education where the Board said they were unwilling to continue to financially support the company because of poor results. Unless, of course, he could come up with a plan for improving the financial viability of Avisto Education.
Background To The Case
In 2007 Win Thein graduated from Yangon University in Myanmar with a Bachelor of Science degree. He then had the opportunity through a sponsor (Mr David Lee) to study Management in Singapore. From 2007-2012 he completed a Master’s in Business which was followed by a PhD entitled “Asian Financial Markets – A New Measure of Volatility.”
With this background, Win Thein started Avisto Education in October 2013 to provide certificate courses in select areas of business and management. Avisto Education was in Yangon, the largest city. These courses were of two months duration, with classes from 9am-12noon each working day. The five courses which comprise the Certificate in Business are: Managing Projects, Human Resource Management, Supply Chains, Marketing, and Finance. Teachers from Singapore came to teach the first month of each course, with Win Thein teaching the second month and doing the marking and assessment. He was supported financially by David Lee (his Singapore sponsor) who provided additional income for the young company when required. However, after four years of operation, the company was yet to make a profit.
Data from the first four years of operation are (Profit stated in Myanmar Kyat):
Includes an additional 3,750,000 Ks spent on marketing, which was largely ineffective.
The major costs of Avisto Education are labour (Win Thein’s salary) and rental of classroom facilities. Students pay about 40,000Ks per course, one course at a time. Fees and operating costs increased around 5% each year.
THE PRESENT TIME (February 2018)
As Win Thein reflects on these four years for Avisto Education, many thoughts come to him. First, he enjoys his work of running a company and teaching business subjects to students. By all accounts, he is a good teacher. Second, he realizes that he must make some significant changes; otherwise the company will have to close. And third, he realizes that he needs help.
So… he contacts YOU and invites you to help him – for a fee. As you and Win Thein discuss the situation, the following ideas and possibilities surface – in no particular order.
• Close the company down before you loses more money.
• Running this certificate course in the same way again is not likely to be financially viable.
• What are some of the recent trends in tertiary education – in Myanmar and worldwide
• What about the possibility of online learning Win Thein is very interested in this, even though he knows little about it.
• Would evening classes be an alternative strategy to morning classes
• Maybe it is only a marketing problem, so better marketing would bring more students
What different fee structures are possible for students
• Can Avisto Education have a connection with another respected business college Perhaps a Singapore business college Perhaps David Lee can help
• What are the expected operating costs of Avisto Education for different possible strategies
• You and he also discuss the rapid growth of Strategy First (https://strategyfirst.edu.mm/) in Myanmar, which offers a wide range of business courses, including an MBA and is also accredited by a number of respected universities.
• Win Thein tells you that David Lee (who is presently the Board Chairman) is willing to provide a further three years funding for a re-development of Avisto Education, but this will require a coherent and realistic proposal to be presented within six weeks from now. David Lee has two goals in mind.
One is to make a positive contribution to economic growth in Myanmar through relevant business education of local people. Win Thein also has this goal. The second goal is for Avisto Education to be financially viable long term.
Based on this case information, first you must develop a business research proposal. Students will, of course, present different proposals. Note that the assessment of your research report will be partly based on your proposal – that is, your final report must follow your Business Research Proposal. Don’t forget that!
Then you must undertake business research on behalf of Avisto Education to recommend a way forward, with clear financial implications. Again, note that the assessment of your research report will be partly based on your proposal.
Purpose
The purpose of the Business Research Proposal is to demonstrate your understanding of the situation/context and your ability to formulate a sensible approach for undertaking the research.
The proposal is very important. It helps to clarify the parameters of your proposed research/case study. For your final research report will only be as good as your proposal. It is a check to see if you are asking the right questions and whether your proposed research approach is realistic.
Answer
1. Introduction/Background
Problem statement
The study is mainly concerned with the problem related to education business within Myanmar. It has been evidenced that most of the business organisations within Myanmar make use of Facebook as their internet and only few businesses consist of websites. The respective research considers the loss of funding in the organisation of AvistoEducation, which is a business school and has been found to run into losses. Considering the growing need for the human capital, the government based on Myanmar has been overhauling for the system of education to be a national priority. However, as stated by Gregson, Pitt & Seal (2019), through an enlarged budget, the new law of national education along with the removal based on the fees of public school, a major reform related to the industry of education has been under way. Nevertheless, many challenges still persist. Thus, it has been evidenced that the issue related to the education industry of Myanmar lacks in quality regarding normal education level and business education as well. The organisations of business education in Myanmar have been known to face some of the extreme pressures due to the denial of financial help through international concerns. However, the Myanmar population does not make use of the certificate courses of education within the selected areas based on business and management.
Research Aim, Objectives and Questions
Research aim
The aim of the research has been to explore the funding problems and issues of developing revenue growth in the education sector (especially in business education) in Myanmar and investigate strategies for the mitigation of the same.
Objectives
To explore the issues related to funding in education-related businesses within Myanmar
To evaluate the business trends in the education sector, in Yangon
To investigate the probable reasons for the poor performance of the education sector in Myanmar, along with the failure of Avisto Education
To analyze the strategies that can be adopted by Avisto Education, for changing their way of operating, and also gain possible external funding for development
Research questions
What are the issues associated with funding in education-related business in Myanmar
What are the trends of business in the education sector in Yangon
What could be the probable reasons for losses in the education sector in Myanmar, and how this relates to the failure of Avisto Education
What are the likely strategies that can be adopted by Avisto Education, for changing their way of operating and gain possible external funding for development, along with gaining profitability, within a span of 2-3 years
The timeframe of the project
For applied business research, there have been 10 stages through which the research has undergone, starting with the identification of the issue towards the preparation of the study. Different activities have been undertaken and outlined such as evaluating the topic of the research; development of research objectives and aims; conducting research through collecting the secondary data followed by conclusion and discussion and presenting the final report. All these activities have been covered within 6 weeks. Every activity has been considered for a week.
The importance of the research
The research mainly emphasizes the decline of the education level within Myanmar because of the issue related to external and internal funding within the education sector. The present study consists of significance to provide knowledge for the schools of business education for focusing on the processes of marketing that might help in obtaining the attention and satisfaction of the customers while meeting with the expectations and demands of the customers within the market (Roshini, 2019).
Importance of taking action based on this report
The study tends to recommend some of the actions that need to be undertaken or rather applied by the business schools of Myanmar, which possess great significance for the education industry. For instance, the implementation of theories such as Popper’s and Disconfirmation theory based on learning can help in providing strategic improvement within the business schools. This can help in enhancing the standards of education along with the business in Myanmar. On the other hand, as put forward by Myint (2019), proper strategies should also be considered for governing or managing the education industry of Myanmar.
Cost and down-sides of not taking action on this problem/opportunity
If proper actions are not taken against the respective problems of the education sector in Myanmar, it can consider several inherent issues for both the public and private funding such as politicization; failure of market and short termism that can eventually impact within the quality of education for Myanmar (Bowman and Guest, 2019). All these might lead to a negative impact for the business level of Myanmar for their higher education.
List of assumptions
Certain strategies have been proposed in the study for being implemented within the respective business institution of Myanmar. Thus, it has been assumed that the school possesses the cost and resources for a successful implementation of the strategies.
On the other hand, it has been evidenced that the school did not make any profit for a longer duration within Myanmar. Thus, it has been assumed that the organisation did not even make any losses as well. However, it is unknown about how many people are likely to make use of the online courses or education that are offered in Myanmar.
Furthermore, it has been assumed that when a proper education is provided to the students, most of them might respond positively. The number of students that will be interested in the course, post the modifications made by Avisto education, has been assumed to be significantly large, so much so that they will be able to drive
2. Methodology
Introduction to methodology
Research methodology generally explores different techniques and processes that are used for conducting a research using selection, identification along with the analysis of the information (Lapsomboonkamol, Wiriyapinit, Bhattarakosol&Rajchamaha, 2020). This section can help the readers to evaluate the reliability and validity of the study.
Data collection
This is referred to as the process of gathering data or information through some of the relevant sources aligning with the research problem of the study along with evaluating the outcomes as well as testing hypotheses. The data can be collected in two ways such as primary and secondary methods of collecting data. The present research consisted of the secondary method of data collection. This helped in saving the expenses and efforts for evaluating the outcomes of the study. However, this method also encourages in searching for the loopholes in the information along with considering the additional information that should be gathered.
Timeline of the research
There are various stages that have been applied while developing or rather preparing the research project. As stated by Ghauri, Grønhaug& Strange, (2020), this considered the processes such as selecting the research problem; developing hypothesis; surveying of literature; collecting data; conducting its analysis; testing the hypothesis; interpreting the results along with preparing the report for final submission as well. All these stages comprised a time period of week 6 where one of the stages consisted of each week.
Analysis; techniques and methods
Process for gathering secondary data and its analysis
Secondary data is mainly referred to a particular data, which is collected through someone rather than any of the users. The common sources based on the secondary data regarding social science involves census; information gathered through the departments of government along with the organisational records. For the present case, information has been collected from the research reports; published reports of industry related to Myanmar along with the peer reviewed journal articles. Most of the information has been retrieved through the library and online sources while relying within their availability with the use of databases like EBSCO and Google Scholar.
The collected data was analysed through thematic analysis, wherein the views and arguments published in existing reports were utilized for exploring the facts relevant to a chosen theme and were then compared and evaluated, to reach a conclusive view regarding the theme. The thematic analysis allowed for focusing on a particular aspect to be considered for the research at a time. For the present research, three themes dealing with the current trends in the issue identified within the education business sector o Myanmar as well as the strategies that can be taken up by the companies functioning in the respective sector, has been framed and analysed.
Research approach, philosophy and design
Inductive research approach is known to be implemented within this research as it can cover the observations and theories, which have been proposed for the research procedure for the observations (Jacobsen, 2020). However, it is known to be incomplete and might result in reaching a false conclusion. Interpretivism research philosophy is considered to be the best fit for the particular study as it tends to involve the humanistic and qualitative methods which can help in interpreting the study. However, this method is related to the subjective nature and can also produce biased results for the researcher. On the other hand, the primary data cannot be generalised as well as it can be impacted through the personal values. For the present study, explanatory research design is known to be much more appropriate as it can be considered useful for solving problems, which has not been researched properly before while generating some operational definitions and trends as well (Ruggiano and Perry, 2019). Nevertheless, by using such design, it might lead to difficulty to reach proper conclusions based on the findings of casual research.
Ethical consideration
This is specified as a significant part of a research while undertaking the techniques and the processes. This highlights the moral ethics while conducting a research, which emphasizes on the consent of the participants that needs to be obtained. For the present study, the data needs to be de-identified before being released to the researcher along with presuming the consent based on the study subjects. On the other hand, while using the secondary method of research, the names of the authors must be cited for their original information.
3. Findings
The major findings of the secondary research are that the trends of international study in business and management in Myanmar are increasing; however, there is a lack of interest to study business and education in the country, owing to the lack of infrastructure and facilities, which is the result of inappropriate funding of the government. The major issues regarding the poor financial performance of business educational schools, the lack of support of the government, lack of internationalization, lack of skilled and trained staff in education, and improper decision making. The major strategies that are identified for the mitigation of the existing problems are internationalization, marketing restructure and making changes in the business model.
Theme.1: The trends of business in the education sector and the issues associated with the funding in Myanmar
As explained by Kirkpatrick (2017), the current low level of literacy rate of Myanmar is worth taking into account or the educational organizations. The trends of business and management education in the country are facing a terrible challenge as there is a denial from the international authorities regarding financial help. The denial is experienced as the trends in the education system have greatly changed over the past few decades. The trends of funding in the educational sector are characterized by donations from international sources as there is a little history of government funding. Another major trend in the education sector is the presence of social media, Facebook, for communicating with the students and the parents. The presence of social media has promoted the opportunity to easily reach the students.
In recent research conducted by Hill, Hell & Van Cauter, (2019), it has been emphasized that the standard of state education in Myanmar has reduced markedly for over the past few decades. In Myanmar, there is an education crisis in rural areas as well as the cities. The lack of public funds is a major issue in relation to Myanmar’s education system and it is evident that the education system has fallen into despair due to the ongoing lack of public funds. In subsequent research, it has been identified that in 2011-2012 a budget of only 4.8% was allocated into the education sector in Myanmar which is comparatively lower than the other Asian countries. The researcher has explained that 78.3% of the public budget of the educational companies is generally allocated in salaries of the employees and in recurrent expenditure. Moreover, it is also evident that the salaries of the employees, such as the lecturers and professors are not too great, rather inadequate, which also reduces the likelihood of the people to become a lecturer and professor.
The number of financial incentives for supporting the quality of the teaching in the universities as well as business management institutes is also very less. According to Gregson, Pitt & Seal (2019), these financial incentives are not adequate for the improvement and maintenance of the education facilities in Myanmar. Therefore, the educational system in Myanmar requires funding support for making improvement in the quality of teaching and making a profitable business. On the other hand, the levels of the fee that are charged from the students are quite low which is insufficient in meeting the requirements of the educational systems and facilities in Myanmar.
Theme.2: The reasons behind the poor financial performance of the education sector in Myanmar
The profitability of the educational sector in Myanmar has long been criticized. According to KandikoHowson and Lall (2020),the education system is grossly underfunded in Myanmar. The major reason behind the inadequate performance of the sector to generate profit is lack of investment to improve the educational facilities and infrastructure. In the opinion of Ulla (2018), under the rule of the military, the education system’s significance has been deliberately undervalued. In the case of business and management education, Esson and Wang, (2018) has explained that inappropriate government funding is a critical factor. The researcher has further explained that in order to develop a strong career in the international markets, the students need to develop better professional competency levels that are only possible with a proper study on business management. However, the lack of funding from the government in this sector is the key issue in Myanmar.
Apart from the funding and investment in improving infrastructure, management and governance is another significant issue in the educational institutes in Myanmar. The culture of management in the educational systems in the country relates to to-down decision making. The decisions regarding the curriculum are centrally made and the local needs and circumstances are paid negligible importance. In subsequent research, Shah and Cardozo, (2019) has demonstrated that there is a lack of transparency in making decisions within the upper level of the management in the educational system in Myanmar. It is identified that the majority of the management and business institutes follow a bureaucratic culture which manifests itself with passive indifference to issues that are prevailing. Another existent reason behind the poor financial performance of the business and management schools and educational institutes in Myanmar is the lack of adequate lecturers and training staff. As opined by Gregson, Lane & Foster, (2019) people in Myanmar are more interested in primary education than in higher education in business management. On the other hand, the lack of support from the government regarding infrastructure and facilities contributes greatly to these specific issues. As explained by Bowman and Guest (2019), due to the lack of interest of the public in business management, the performance of the business schools is not good. The major way to increase awareness regarding the importance of studying business management is marketing. In relation to this context, Hudson, (2016) has emphasized that the marketing channels are also underutilized by the educational centres and business schools.
Theme.3: The strategies that can be adopted by Avisto Education, for changing their way of operating
The educational system in Myanmar is looking for opportunities with the educational reform in 2016. A total of 8.5% of government spending is allocated to the educational system in Myanmar. However, business schools are still facing difficulties in funding. In such a condition, internationalization through collaboration with international business schools is one of the preliminary strategies that such schools can adopt. In the view of Nuttavuthisit (2017), with internationalization in the educational system, the infrastructure, facilities, and the supply of human resources into this sector would be improved. Moreover, by collaborating the system with the business schools of developed countries like Australia and the US, the business schools in Myanmar can effectively gain the opportunity to use their brand names to attract more candidates. This strategy is likely to enhance the standards of education and transformation of the culture of the business schools.
As per the statement of Lim and Ser (2020), marketing is an essential approach that is required to enhance the performance of the business schools in Myanmar. According to Clock and Mazzarol (2016) the lack of an appropriate selection of marketing channels is one of the drawbacks of this industry that contributes significantly to the lowered profitability. Therefore, focusing on marketing processes is an important strategy that needs to be followed in this industry. However, in order to make the marketing process effective, business schools are needed to analyse the demands of the students and offer services that can meet their expectations. According to Ferguson (2018), practical and technical classes on the basis of business simulations can help business schools to meet the expectations of the students. Online learning is becoming a major practice in Myanmar; however, there are some drawbacks of certificate courses through the internet as still now a greater proportion of Myanmar do not have access to the internet. According to Baek, Kim &Harimoto (2019), the lack of knowledge among the staff and teachers in business schools regarding online classes is another major problem. Hence, the enhancement of knowledge in online classes through training can be an effective strategy in business schools. Moreover, it is evident that the provision of study materials through the online class in the form of e-books is not very effective. In Myanmar, there is still an existing demand for printed books. Therefore, business schools can use a strategy to publish the study materials in the form of books and provide it to the students at a subsidized price.
4. Analysis and Conclusion
Three action alternatives to address the problem
Collaboration with respected international business schools
The strategy of international collaboration is effective for educational institutes such as schools, universities as well as business and management educational service providers. In the opinion of Heslop, (2019), international partnerships between business schools is beneficial to the students as well as the staff in a business school. It is evident that universities and business schools across the world are enhancing the possibilities to form global partnerships and foster relationships with other institutions with higher reputations. Due to the lack of facilities and infrastructure and the inadequate support of the government in education, a majority of the students in Myanmar seek to study abroad in recent days. Therefore, there is a perception of a higher standard of education in the international business educational institutes among the students (Tajuddin, 2018). Going by the theory of Disconfirmation, in such a context, the approach of internationalization is one of the most effective strategies that the concerned organization, Avisto Education can choose. According to the theory, as explained through the studies of Siu, Kwan, Wong & Zhang, (2017), the students frame a perception about the degree being offered, based on their previous experiences. Collaboration with International business institutes would boost the perception and influence the buying behaviour of the students towards Avisto education. It is evident that one of the major competitors of Avisto Education, Strategy First has collaborated with international universities and offers students with global standards of education to gain greater profitability. The scope of this specific strategy is suitable for Avisto Education as for the execution of this strategy, the organization would require fewer efforts and cost while the outcome of the strategy implementation would be great. With the implementation of this strategy, the organization would be able to attract more students as it would be able to use the brand names of the world-renowned educational business education schools with the courses offered.
Making changes in the business model and gaining knowledge to make online learning more effective In spite of offering an attractive certificate course in business and management in Myanmar, the company Avisto Education is facing major issues in making a profit which has increased the need for making effective changes in the business model. The organization is focused on providing certificate courses that actively utilize the internet for supporting online learning. However, it is identified that Win Thein, the owner of Avisto Education does not possess knowledge of online learning and teaching. Therefore, it can be suggested that Win Thein must concentrate on gaining knowledge on online courses and support the training of the others in the organization on this aspect so that the effectiveness of the online learning and teaching can be increased. Moreover, some changes in the business model such as the addition of the evening schedule with the existing morning schedules can be done for providing the opportunity to more students to have knowledge in business education. This approach would attract more students to join the certificate course and thereby increase the revenue of the organization (Toe and Aung, 2019). One of the major problems in online learning is the lack of printed books and notes. In this case, the concerned organization can take the alternative strategy to print the effective books in the form of notes and provide to the students with a subsidized price. This approach would help in creating a new revenue stream for the organization and would also be effective for the students. This particular alternative strategy would require medium scope as it would involve medium efforts and costs for its execution.
Focusing on marketing approaches with an effective structuring of the certificate courses
To solve the issue relating to the lowered profitability, the organization Avisto Education is needed to focus heavily on the aspects of marketing. It is evident from the past financial records of the institute that the company is not able to attract an adequate number of students. Therefore, the marketing strategies are needed to be restructured with major attention to the analysis of the demands of the students (Tate, Subedi&Maheshwari, 2019). It is identified from the findings that Facebook is the major social media in Myanmar and is generally used by educational organizations as a digital marketing tool to attract students for business and management studies. The concerned organization can take up the strategy of using Facebook as a major marketing tool and teach the students. However, conducting market research to understand the needs and requirements of the students is essential. In this case, the organization can also utilize social media for understanding the new trends among the students. The outcome of the present research indicates that students are more attracted to faculties that offer practical and technical classes that are supported by business simulations, in abidance with Popper’s Learning theory. According to this theory, the constructive approaches adopted by the institutes, to encourage the students to discuss, participate, experience and learn through practical rather than theoretical classes, makes the process of learning interesting, absorbing as well as beneficial for the students (Hanson, 2017). The simulation classes and lessons are expected to make the students aware of the practical situations they are likely to face in their professional practice and thus, help them be prepared for the same. This apparent benefit adds value to the education course offered and influences the buying behaviour of the customers, the students in this case. For developing attractive business simulation offerings to the students the Avisto Education would be required to develop collaboration with organizations that provide business simulation services and simulation games. Therefore, the scope of this particular approach would be greater as the development of practical and technical classes through business simulation would require major costs and efforts.
Advantages and disadvantages of alternatives
The major advantages of the collaboration strategy with the internationally renowned business school are that it would enhance the reputation and brand awareness of Avisto Education in Myanmar and would help in attracting those students who prefer studying in association with international universities and business schools. However, one of the disadvantages of this approach is that differences in culture between international business schools and Avisto Education based in Myanmar can create serious issues leading to conflicts in the management of the school.
The second alternative strategy that is proposed based on the findings also includes advantages and disadvantages. The strategy of evening courses along with morning courses would be effective as it would create the opportunity of business education to working students as well (Lohmann, et al., 2019). On the other hand, the major disadvantage of this alternative strategy in business and management studies is that students need to gain knowledge of working in groups, but, in this strategy of online learning, there will be a lack of communication among students, which would limit their group and teamwork skills.
The third strategy is the increased focus on marketing and restructuring of the course with business simulation, the major advantages is the development of a strong relationship with the students through social media marketing and admission of more students in the certificate courses. On the other hand, the major disadvantage would be the inability to reach people who lack access to the internet.

Table.1: Cost for each of the action alternatives provided
(Source: Created by the learner)
The above cost-benefit analysis of the three alternative actions indicates that the benefit of the third alternative is highest as compared to the cost and therefore highly recommended to Avisto Education.
Short- and long-term consequences of each alternative chosen
The first strategy of internationalization through collaboration with an international business school would allow the company to enjoy both medium short-term benefits and long term benefits. Moreover, the initial cost of the execution of the strategy would also be not much high as compared to the other two strategies and therefore is highly recommended to Avisto Education. On the contrary, the second strategy of incorporation of changes in the business model through training on online teaching, offering printed notes at a subsidized price and starting evening courses would allow Avisto Education to incur short term beneficial consequences. However, the long-term benefits of this specific strategy would not be much strong to support the financial performance of Avisto Education. The last strategy that includes social media marketing strategy along with the restructuring of the certificate courses with practical and technical classes featured by business simulation would be much more effective than the other two alternatives. This specific strategy might have poor short-term benefits and require a high initial cost as compared to the other two alternatives, but the long term benefits and savings from the execution of this strategy would help Avisto Education to enhance the level of profitability for the upcoming years.
Sensitivity/risk of each alternative to uncontrollable external factors
In the first alternative strategy provided to Avisto Education, the organization is likely to face difficulty due to the cultural differences between the two institutes and the employees. Due to the difference in management and cultures, the organization may face an increased level of conflicts. In relation to the second strategy, the major difficulty that could be faced is the limitation to reach students due to the lack of access to the internet. In the third strategy, the organization can face difficulty in choosing an appropriate partner for business simulation software and games, as there are a number of such technology providers. On the other hand, the increased risk of cybersecurity can be a concern in this online business simulation (Draijer, 2020).
5. Recommendations
The particular research can highlight the methods with which the institutions of business education within Myanmar can enhance and promote the offerings of the educations along with their services within the country (Bai and Wu, 2019). This can attract the students for completing their courses and leading to different prospects in the market. Some of the methods are mentioned below:
Using video marketing
This process is known to be effective as it can make it much more easier for representing the personality of the school and allowing the viewers to be connected with the institution in a successful way. This can enable the business schools for engaging at a personal level which might be harder for conducting with the written context.
Taking advantage of social media
Other than facebook, there are many more platforms within social media which can be utilised by the business schools of Myanmar. This can provide some helpful information regarding the campus; program and similar others. As opined by Fraser, Khine&Khaing (2019), making use of different social media platforms can enhance to host some of the live Q&As with the faculty of the past students who are known to find success after graduation. The business schools can also be able to host the live streams based on the events of the campus for generating much more interest within the school.
Creating mobile strategy
The business school needs to ensure it has its own website which needs to be mobile friendly. This can allow the institutions to run advertisements online while considering the platforms which have the prospective students to be likely for using these within their phones such as Snapchat and Youtube.
Implementation of Segmented Email Marketing
Segmenting the list of emails can help in accessing personalised emails while making use of the information that is supplied when opting within as well as segmenting the list accordingly for receiving some relevant content (Wong, 2019). The team of marketing needs to be hired for execution of these strategies, which can leverage the efforts of marketing for boosting the enrolment.
However, apart from the above strategies, the business schools of Myanmar can also collaborate with the other international business schools, which might lead to innovation. This does not consist of much effort or money and results in being cost effective. This can also result in being much more crucial as compared to the previous days, which can also promote globalization and diversity within the institution. These strategies can be beneficial for the business school of Avisto Education in Myanmar. This can help the institution to offer the students with a global standard for education for obtaining a greater profitability. Alternatively, the respective school can change its business model, as it tends to provide online classes and e-learning materials to the students (Gunadi and Hartawan, 2019). Rather than this, the school can opt for printing the materials for the students and providing them at a subsidised price can help in enhancement of the organisational profit. However, evening classes can also take place accordingly with the morning classes where simulation can be considered for the students to enhance their learning and training and development should also be considered for the faculties of the school regarding the online course as well.
