The emergence of different AI tools has led academic institutions to declare their usage for writing assignments as academic misconduct. Many universities have revised their plagiarism policies and included guidelines concerning AI use.
Should we examine the AI impact on students? I also tried voice tools, but they could not identify what I said. It is just due to my accent. At some point, it was frustrating. Taking help from ChatGPT has made me realize that it is artificial. If I have queries, I would prefer asking my professors or friends than asking the tool (Adrian, 19 years old). ***
The surveyed students also shared their feelings toward continuous use of the tools. As per them, the tool can be assistants; however, they are not the lone ones performing their work. They have a viewpoint and a vision to produce ideas that reflect this viewpoint and vision. If they separate their viewpoint from the function, there is less to do with creative learning. It is like repeating other people’s ideas.
As per the study, it is reflected in this blog on AI impact on students that some students clearly expressed their lack of confidence in depending completely on AI tools for learning. They feel it is risky to write an entire assignment with the assistance of ChatGPT, so they use it partially. As per them, ChatGPT cannot write high-quality essays. The students claimed that the tool copies relevant materials as per the prompts received by it if they are correct and clear.
